What makes a good/effective speech?

We'll to start off do you know what a speech is? A speech is something where you express your thoughts and feelings basically. In order to make a good or effective speech I think you have to include many things in it, not just feelings and thoughts. But why? You want the readers to have a clear understanding of what your trying to express.
